PROCESS
Rather than simply responding to the inputs, requests and needs, blaut studio creates a process, time and budget to do divergent thinking in order to identify opportunities before we start prioritizing ideas and solutions. We must allow time to think. Broader thinking helps us to break out of the status quo mindset. Discovery research is about finding new frontiers. Subsequently we will model the benefits and refine the design concept.
A good design process acknowledges the need for reflection time. Too often, one moves from one step to another without considering what was learned and what effects it may have on the final solution.

Through Zen philosophy, we can experience the large in the small. A strong love and even veneration of nature leads to an aesthetic of natural beauty. For centuries Zen masters have created silent havens for peaceful contemplation. By cultivating such an environment, one comes away feeling as if the rest of life has become simpler. This inner contemplation and calm can lead to a fresh view, and to clear and skillful action. blaut studio will create a perfect backdrop to empty ourselves of clutter, get down to basics and see things in a new way. We may not become Zen adepts, but anything we do with skill may serve us well.
ABOUT
Exceptional exposure to different cultures has made Dave Van der Linden a global citizen. Born in Antwerp, Belgium, he has lived in various cities in the USA, as well as in Honduras and Peru. As an ocean transportation executive, he has traveled multiple times to every continent.
Because of his corporate background, Dave is uniquely qualified to identify the needs of his clients. After studying Interior Design at the Parsons New School of Design, he decided to leverage his business background with his creative passions. He also studied Feng shui and spent time in a Buddhist monastery in Nepal.
Dave experienced first hand the effects of surroundings on efficiency, productivity and decision making, both in a commercial as well as in a private setting. All too often successful people underestimate the value of a well proportioned and well furnished office installation, and the positive results this can have on an organization.
Dave has been eager to find a way to take more control of his direct environment by becoming more pro-active, more aware of his surroundings, and through blaut studio wishes to share this philosophy with his clients.
When he is not busy searching for unique objects, Dave devotes his time to philanthropy. He has won multiple fundraising awards, including the 2013/2014 Run, Walk, Ride Award covering all fundraising charities in USA and Canada. Dave was the number 1 New York fundraiser for Multiple Sclerosis in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
